Bristol White Sox News Release
The Bristol White Sox dropped their third consecutive game here Tuesday night, winding up on the short end of a 5-3 loss at the hands of the Elizabethton Twins.
The Twins struck first in the top of the third as Niko Goodrum scored on a Josh Hendricks double to right field to make the score 1-0. The Twins used a two-run homerun by Jorge Polanco to jump out to an early 3-0 lead in the top of the fourth.
After finding themselves down three, the Sox knotted the ballgame at three a piece with a three-run homer to right field by Eric Grabe. Going into the last two innings of play, the Twins scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch in the top of the eighth and later scored an insurance run in the ninth on a RBI triple by Max Kepler.
James Hudelson took the loss for the 10-26 Sox and Brett Lee collected the win for the 28-12 Twins. Despite giving up the homerun to Grabe, Lee struck out five batters in two innings. Zach Stoner led the Sox with three hits and Polanco collected three hits for the Twins.
The Sox will host the Twins tomorrow July 31 on BVU OptiNet Night with first pitch set for 7 p.m.
