Forward Madison FC News Release

Madison, WIS.- Governor Tony Evers announced today that $2.8 million of grants will be made available to minor league sports teams in the state of Wisconsin. The grants are funded by the American Rescue Plan of 2021. Wisconsin has a rich minor league sports history with successful franchises in operation throughout the state. Since launching in 2019, Forward Madison FC has enjoyed amazing community support and led USL League One in attendance in its inaugural season. FMFC had a challenging 2020 season needing to travel to the Wisconsin Dells to practice and play a limited home season at Hart Park in Wauwatosa due to local restrictions. The Club has continued operations with strong support from season ticket holders, corporate partners and the City of Madison, which owns Breese Stevens Field.

"Forward Madison has been fortunate to be embraced by the Madison community and beyond since its inception two years ago," Chief Operating Officer/ Owner Conor Caloia said. "As a start-up business, the COVID-19 pandemic has created constant uncertainty and challenged our continued operation. We would like to thank Governor Evers and his administration for their support and recognizing the role businesses like ours play in our community. This grant will help Forward Madison get through the challenges of the last 18 months and serve as an entertainment and community staple in Madison for many years to come."

FMFC launched its third USL League One season in May. Forward Madison led the third division of US Soccer averaging nearly 4,100 fans per game in 2019. Forward Madison and Breese Stevens Field employ approximately 35 full-time and two hundred and fifty seasonal employees. Forward returns home to Breese Stevens Field next Wednesday, June 30 vs. New England Revolution II at 7 pm. For more information please go to forwardmadisonfc.com.
