Macon Trax News Release

[Macon, Ga.]—The Orlando Seals kept their playoff hopes alive by defeating the Trax 4-1 Friday night in Macon. David Goverde stole the show in net as he made 35 saves en route to the victory.

The Seals scored early and set the tone throughout the night. Orlando is playing as a desperate team. They must win out and get some help from around the league in order to make the playoffs.

Jerry Keefe scored his first of two goals on the night 9:53 into the game. The power play goal was assisted by Seamus Galligan and Jamie Muswagon.

All year The Trax have been the best penalty kill team in the league but tonight the special team let them down. Just 1:41 in the second period, Tomas Jelinek scored his sixth goal of the year, on the power play, to give the Seals a two goal lead.

Macon looked to find a spark in the middle of the second period and eventually got on the scoreboard. Steve Zoryk scored his 32nd goal of the season from a Craig Miller pass.

Orlando fought right back and re-took their two goal edge from B.J. Stephens. Stephens netted his 36th goal of the year, tops in the WHA2.

For good measure the Seals added their fourth and final goal on the night when Keefe scored his ninth of the season. Galligan got his second assist of the night on the play while Muswagon got his third.

The Trax will try to clinch a playoff spot again tomorrow night when the Lakeland Loggerheads come to town. If the Trax win they will clinch their ticket to the 2004 WHA2 playoffs.

Saturday night is "Fan Appreciation Night" at the Centreplex. All seats in the building are only $6. Also, the Trax will be giving away great prizes at almost every whistle and during both intermissions. Call the Trax office at 478-742-4849 to reserve your seat tonight.
