Danbury Trashers News Release

The Trashers played one rowdy period and two more of solid hockey as they defeat the Adirondack Frostbite, 4-2, in front of a crowd 2,301.

World Wrestling Entertainment Superstar John Cena was on hand as the teams totaled 106 penalty minutes in the first period. Six game misconducts were handed out seven and a half minutes into the game. The division-leading Frostbite came out of the first period with a one goal lead thanks to Sylvain Cloutier's 20th goal of the season, assisted by Greg Koehler and Hugo Belanger.

Danbury rookie Alex Goupil tied the game with his 11th goal of the season just over a minute into the second frame, assisted by Bruce Richardson. Trevor Segstro put Adirondack ahead at 10:17, 2-1. Russell Spence chose a fine time to score his first goal of the season, as he tied the game for the Trashers on a John Morlang pass with almost six minutes to play in the second period. Only one penalty was called in the period, and only two would be called in the final frame.

Danbury's John Morlang broke the two-all tie with his fourteenth goal of the season from J.F. David at 5:47 of the third period. Goupil cinched first star of the night with his second goal of the game, from Jeff Daw, at 17:49.

Danbury netminder Scott Stirling returned to all-star form, stopping 39-of-41 shots sent his way. Kris Tebbs gave up four goals on 23 shots in net for Adirondack. The Frostbite's first goal was the only power play score of the night, as Adirondack ended the night 1-for-6, Danbury, 0-for-2.

On Friday (7:30pm) the Patriot Garage in conjunction with the Trashers will give out seat cushions to the first 1,000 fans prior to Danburys game against Elmira. Danbury will host Elmira again on Saturday (7:00pm) night before heading to Adirondack (5:05pm) on Sunday afternoon.
