Goulet Leads Wildcats to 5 - 2 Victory Over Fog Devils

Saint John's, NL - Stephane Goulet scored a pair of goals, his 27th,PP and 28th,PP, to lead the Moncton Wildcats to a 5 - 2 victory over the Saint John's Fog Devils on Thursday at the Mile One Stadium in front of a crowd of 4,007.

The teams were tied 1 - 1 after the first period and Moncton led 3 - 2 after 40 minutes. Adam Pineault (12th), Keith Yandle (13th) and Jerome Samson (7th,SH,EN) rounded out the Wildcat's scoring summary. The Saint John's Fog Devils received goals from Nicolas Bachand (15th,PP) and Scott Brophy (13th,PP,). Goulet added two assist for the Wildcats, while singles came from Samson, Philippe Dupuis, Andrew MacDonald and Maxime Belanger.

The Wildcats outshot the Fog Devils 31 - 27, including 12 - 7 in the first period and 11 - 10 in the third, while Saint John's held a 10 - 8 advantage in the second period. Josh Tordjman was victorious in his Moncton Wildcat debut after being acquired last week in a trade with the Victoriaville Tigers. He blocked 25 of 27 shots he faced to improve his season record to 14 -17. Brandon Verge allowed four goals on 30 shots to see his record fall to 3 - 8. Moncton was 2 for 7 on the powerplay, while Saint John's' went 2 for 10. The game's three stars were #1 - Stephane Goulet, #2 - Luke Gallant and #3 - Keith Yandle.

Moncton remains in second place in the East Division, two points behind the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, with a record of 25 - 10 - 0 - 2 = 52 pts. Saint John's remains in seventh place in the East Division with a record of 14 - 18 - 3 - 0 = 31 pts. The teams return to action on Friday night. Moncton's next home game is against the Saint John Sea Dogs on Friday, January 6th, 2006.

Advisory: Moncton Wildcats have re-scheduled a home-to-home series with the Acadie-Bathurst Titan, due to a scheduling conflict at the Moncton Coliseum. Moncton will now host the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Tuesday, February 28th at 7:00 pm. Moncton will then travel to Acadie-Bathurst on Friday, March 3rd for a 7:30 pm match-up at the K.C. Irving Regional Center.
