Amarillo Gorillas News Release

Amarillo, TX – The Amarillo Gorillas fired two goals to snap a 1-1 tie en route to a 4-2 doubling of the Lubbock Cotton Kings and their first win of the season in Central Hockey League action in Lubbock on Friday night.

The Gorillas peppered Cotton Kings goaltender Jeremy Symington with 42 shots on goal including a season high 18 in the second stanza alone. The win improves the Gorillas record to 1-3 and they will look to make it two in a row tonight Saturday, Nov. 1 when they host the expansion Colorado Eagles at The Jungle beginning at 7 p.m.

It is Budweiser night, and the first 3,000 fans will receive a free ralley towel. The game can be heard live on the flagship station of the Amarillo Gorillas Hot 99.7 FM, beginning with Gorillas Game Night at 6:40 p.m. Fans can also watch the game courtesy of CHL TV starting at 7 p.m., and should consult the www.chltv.com website for system requirements and pricing information.

In Lubbock on Friday night, Sam Hill's power play goal in the second period and then Scott Wray goal in the third period would be all the Gorillas would need for goaltender Shawn Degagane. The North Bay, Ontario native stopped 20 of 22 Lubbock shots during the contest and earned the victory.

Derek Hahn and Ben Gustavson had the other Gorillas goals in the contest, while Derrell Upton picked up two assists. Dave Rattray and Henry Kuster had the other helpers.

It was a total team effort by Amarillo in the game in large part due to a solid second period where they kept Cotton Kings penned inside the Lubbock zone for much of the stanza.

Tickets for tonight's game at The Jungle between Amarillo and Colorado can be picked up at the Gorillas Hockey Office located at 1934 Civic Circle off of I-40 and Georgia; the Civic Center Box Office, Panhandle Tickets located at Randy's Music Mart, the WT Event Center and United Supermarket locations in Amarillo, Dumas, Pampa and Borger.
