Amarillo Gorillas News Release
Amarillo, TX 12/15/08 - Bad weather was named as the culprit Monday night, as the Tuesday morning "Kid's Day Game" between the Amarillo Gorillas and the New Mexico Scorpions was postponed by the Central Hockey League.
Just one hour into their bus ride to Rio Rancho, NM, the Gorillas were notified that I-40 was closed heading into the Albuquerque area, and that most schools that had scheduled to attend the game had cancelled school for Tuesday. All this due to a winter storm system that moved its way through central New Mexico Monday night.
"Now we get four good days of practice heading into this weekend's games," said Head Coach Tom Coolen. "The postponement will give us four straight home games, which could be a benefit as well."
As of Monday night, no make-up date had been set for the game. The Gorillas' next contest will come Friday night at the Amarillo Civic Center, with a 7:05 PM scheduled start time. For tickets, fans can call (806) 242-PUCK (7825) or stop by any Panhandle Tickets outlet in the Amarillo area.
Enjoy all the benefits of being an Amarillo Gorillas season ticket holder, including pregame meetings with Coach Coolen and one-of-a-kind access to special events! Gorillas season tickets for 2008-09 are available by calling (806) 242-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Gorillas office at 901 Buchanan in Amarillo.
