Gorillas earn CHL Performance of the Week honors

Amarillo, TX 3/11/09 - After scoring three goals in 45 seconds to fuel a comeback against the Odessa Jackalopes on Saturday, February 28, the Amarillo Gorillas were honored with the CHL Performance of the Week Wednesday.

The Gorillas garnered 201 of the 552 votes cast during the weekly poll, capturing 36% of the vote. This is the second time in 2008-09 Amarillo has been awarded the CHL Performance of the Week-the earlier occasion came when Jason Weitzel tallied a record 21,950 votes in the poll after scoring a hat trick against Rapid City in November.

The three-goal onslaught began when Warren Galloway scored at 5:08 of the second period with the Gorillas down 3-0 at the time of the goal. Only 25 seconds later, Austin Sutter scored to draw Amarillo within one; Sutter's goal was followed up just 20 seconds afterwards when Alex Greig scored on a shot from the point, tying the game at three. Amarillo would go on to win 6-5, on a third period Sutter goal.

Arizona's Marco Emond finished second in Performance of the Week voting, following a shutout victory over the Corpus Christi IceRays on February 27. Emond captured 116 votes of the 552 cast.
