
Gorillas to take on Sundogs in Arizona Wednesday

Amarillo, TX 3/11/09 - In a matchup with CHL playoff implications, the Amarillo Gorillas (17-37-3, 37 pts.) will battle the Arizona Sundogs (24-30-5, 53 pts.) at the Tim's Toyota Center in Prescott Valley Wednesday night.
The game, which will face off at 9:05 PM Central Time, will be the last in the season series between the two Southwest Division rivals. Amarillo has managed a 3-3-1 record in 2008-09 against Arizona, earning points in their last three games against the Sundogs. The Sundogs are two points behind the Corpus Christi IceRays for the fifth and final playoff spot in the CHL's Southern Conference, while the Gorillas have been eliminated from playoff contention. With a win Wednesday, Arizona would move into a tie with Corpus Christi for the elusive post-season berth.
Meanwhile, Arizona is without goaltender Joel Gistedt (3-2-0 against Amarillo this season), lost after a call-up to the AHL. The Gorillas will likely face Marco Emond in net for the Sundogs-Emond is 1-1-0 with ten goals allowed in two games this season against Amarillo.
Sam Ftorek, who was named this week as a finalist for the CHL's Most Outstanding Defenseman award, leads the Gorillas with ten points (3G, 7A) against the Sundogs this season. Rookie forward Jake Morissette has also experienced marked success versus Arizona in 2008-09, with seven goals in seven contests against the defending CHL President's Cup Champions.
