Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, N.D. - After losing a 26 point lead late in the fourth quarter, the Dakota Wizards mounted a comeback of their own behind a 4 point play from Edwin Ubiles and came away with a 93-88 victory over the visiting Sioux Falls Skyforce. This marks the first time this season the Wizards have picked up a weekend sweep. Mike Anderson led the way for Dakota with 20 points and 8 rebounds.

Dakota put the Skyforce back on their heels from the start of the game jumping out to 12 point lead after the first quarter. Anderson scored 10 of his team high 20 points in the quarter as the Wizards led 30-18 after one. Dakota held Sioux Falls to just 33.3% shooting in the second quarter as they pushed their lead to 26 with 3:38 left in the game. Billy McShepard went on a 9 point run of his own to cut the Wizards lead to 17 heading into the break.

The roles reversed in the second half as Dakota went cold for much of the third and fourth quarters. Their 26 point lead turned into a 2 point deficit with 5:05 left in the game. A non-traditional 4 point play by Ubiles cut the Skyforce lead to 1 as he was fouled and made the 3-point shot. Pressure defense by the Wizards on the next in-bounce play forced the Skyforce into a turnover that lead to an Anthony Goods jumper to put the Wizards up 1 with 14.8 seconds left in the game. After another stop by the Wizards, they put the game away with free throws and sealed the win.

Justin Johnson, newcomer Tommy Smith, Edwin Ubiles, and Curtis Withers all scored in double figures for the Wizards with 14, 11, 10 and 10 points respectively.

Casey Mitchell led the way again for the Skyforce with 22 points. Dominique Coleman recorded a double-double with 12 points and 11 assists on the night.

The Wizards get back to .500 with a 6-6 record as Sioux Falls drops to 5-10 on the season.
