DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 30, 2015) - A combination of of four Fort Myers Miracle pitchers hurled a one-hit shutout in a 4-0 win over the Daytona Tortugas on Thursday night at Jackie Robinson Ballpark.

Miracle starter Stephen Gonsalves went five no-hit frames with eight strikeouts. After issuing three walks in the first 1.1 innings, Gonsalves (5-1) retired 11 in a row before leaving the game prior to the sixth. Of his eight strikeouts, six were swinging.

Trevor Hildenberger emerged from the Miracle bullpen to throw a perfect sixth with a strikeout. Then, after fanning Sebastian Elizalde to start the seventh, Taylor Sparks broke up the no-hit bid. On a 3-1 pitch, Sparks hit a weak ground ball to first base. Michael Quesada fielded the ball on the backhand, but his throw eluded Hildenberger at first base and Sparks was credited with a hit. Hildenberger put down the next two hitters.

In the eighth, Brian Gilbert worked around a walk with a pair of punch outs. Nick Burdi tossed a perfect ninth, striking out the side and sealing a second consecutive shutout win for the Miracle pitching staff.

After a 40-minute delay, the Miracle jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a thunderous strike from Mitch Garver. With two outs, Garver crushed a 1-1 pitch from Daytona starter Seth Varner down the left field line and over the wall. The home run for Garver is his third of the season, all coming in the month of July.

In the third, the Miracle achieved a first for the 2015 season when Logan Wade launched a solo blast to left field. On a 1-0 pitch from Varner (1-3), Wade pulled an off-speed pitch over the wall in left center to put the Miracle up 2-0. The third homer of the season marked the first time this season the Miracle had multiple home runs in a single game.

The Miracle padded the lead with a pair of two-out RBI singles in the fourth and sixth. In the fourth, Zack Granite yanked a run-scoring single through the right side. In the sixth, Vielma grounded a base hit up the middle to score Granite, 4-0.

Over the last 20 innings, the Miracle have held opponents without a run. The last time an opposing team scored was in the seventh inning on July 28.

The Miracle (59-46, 21-14) return to Jackie Robinson Ballpark on Friday night for the second game of the series against the Tortugas (55-47, 18-14). Game time is set for 7:05 p.m. Fans can listen to the action on www.miraclebaseball.com with the "Voice of the Miracle" Brice Zimmerman.
