GENEVA, Ill. - The Winnipeg Goldeyes scored 13 runs on 14 hits to cruise to a 13-2 victory over the Kane County Cougars on Friday night at Northwestern Medicine Field.

Winnipeg (12-13) started the scoring in the top of the second against Cougars (13-12) starter Koby Bishop (0-1). A Kevin Lachance single brought in the first run of the ballgame before Deon Stafford Jr. grounded into an RBI fielder's choice to make it 2-0.

The Goldeyes added three more in the top of the third on a three-run homer by Max Murphy over the right-center field fence. Winnipeg would go on to add six more runs in the top of the fourth to make it 11-0. The six-run frame was highlighted by a three-run home run off the bat of David Washington.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Cougars got on the board against Goldeyes starter Alex Manasa (1-1). Josh Rolette led off the frame with a double before Galli Cribbs singled him home. Kane County added another run in the sixth on an RBI single by Sherman Johnson. Manasa earned a quality start by allowing just two runs across six innings of work.

Winnipeg reached the 13-run mark on Murphy's second home run, a two-run shot in the top of the sixth. Murphy finished the night 3-for-5 with two home runs and six RBIs.

The series with the Goldeyes continues Saturday night with first pitch set for 6:30 p.m. For tickets call 630-232-8811 or visit kccougars.com/tickets.
