Kalamazoo Wings News Release

Kalamazoo, MI- The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the International Hockey League, announce in conjunction with McDonald's, the creation of a new premium night colored ice game, Golden Ice.

Sponsored by McDonald's, Golden Ice will be a beach themed night. The first-ever Golden Ice Game will occur Saturday, January 31st at 7:30 p.m. at Wings Stadium versus the Bloomington PrairieThunder.

"To alleviate the January blues, we (K-Wings) wanted to get everyone in the summer spirit, and what better way to do so than with a beach theme," said General Manager Wade Welsh. "Instead of golden rays of sunshine, we will have golden ice and the golden arches of McDonald's."

While the K-Wings already wear McDonald's themed warm-up jerseys during the entire season, the team will also don a special McDonald's themed jersey for the night. Following the game, the jerseys will be auctioned off with a portion of the proceeds going to the Ronald McDonald House of West Michigan.

The mission of Ronald McDonald House Charities, Inc. (RMHC®) is to create, find and support programs that directly improve the health and well being of children. RMHC fulfills its mission by creating innovative, effective programs that address targeted needs, and by supporting these programs and other activities conducted by its local Chapters worldwide. RMHC also awards grants to other nonprofit children's organizations that positively impact the health and well being of children around the world.

"We are excited to continue to build our long lasting partnership with the K-Wings," said Operations Manager for Southwest Michigan McDonald's Jim Lozen. "This game gives us (McDonald's) the ability to give back to the community, as well as raise money for our local Ronald McDonald House.

Also during the game, all kids 12 and under will receive a FREE coupon for a McDonald's Happy Meal, which will be redeemable at any of the McDonald's in Southwest Michigan.

Known for their colored-ice games, the K-Wings are slated to play on four colored-ice games during the 2008-09 season. Besides Golden Ice, the K-Wings already have their traditional Orange, Pink and Green Ice Games.

Being a premium night, tickets for Golden Ice Game will range from $15.90-$7.90. Tickets purchased on game night will increase by one dollar.

Season tickets for the upcoming 2008-2009 season of K-Wings hockey are currently on sale at the Wings Stadium Ticket Office during their regular business hours of 9 a.m.-4 p.m. or by calling (269) 345-5101. Fans can save 15% on their season tickets by paying for their seats in full by October 15th.
