Golden Eagles Top Elmira After finishing a Suspended Game

Fans at East Field on Friday night were treated to some extra baseball, as the Golden Eagles and Elmira Pioneers finished up a game that had begun on July 10th.

After Elmira took home a win in the completion of the suspended game the Eagles bounced back to earn a hard fought game on Cancer night. Zack Hopf (Saint Peter's) got the win as Matt Eckleman (Saint Louis) got his third save of the season.

"I was throwing a lot of off speed strike and working both sides of the plate today." Stated Hopf on his start. Hopf went seven innings while striking out seven and allowing just two runs.

Offensively for the Eagles Bryan Ramirez (UTPA) had an RBI fielder's choice that tied the game at one in the third. Blake Sydeski (South Florida) drove home Jimmy Smith (Saint Peter's) with a double in the in the fifth.

Raphael Gladu (College Lafleche) tacked on one in the sixth with an RBI ground and Josh Anderson (Florida International) singled home a run in the seventh.

The Golden Eagles are back in action on Saturday as they will send out Matt Portland (Northwestern) to pitch against the Utica Brewers. Then again on Monday on Miller Mechanical night against the Mohawk Valley DiamondDawgs. First pitch both nights at 7:05.
