Glens Falls, NY - After being nationally ranked for the entire first month plus of the PGCBL season and losing its ranking last week, the Glens Falls Golden Eagles had a strong week before the league All Star break to rebound and reclaim its national ranking at number 18.

So far this season, the Golden Eagles have been ranked as high as number 12 in the rankings compiled by Perfect Game USA and collegesummerbaseball.net while also being ranked 16th, 22nd, and receiving a mention in the voting last week.

This past week, the green and gold lost a tough game to start the rankings week on Tuesday 8-6 to Elmira. However, the team rebounded hosting the Watertown Wizards to a two-game home stand in which the Golden Eagles earned the sweep 11-10 and 10-0. The shutout on Thursday earned Glens Falls Coach John Mayotte his 200th win with the team to go along with his over 800 wins in his illustrious career. Friday and Saturday represented key wins for the Golden Eagles as the team defeated the Newark Pilots on the road after the Pilots had won the previous two games vs. Glens Falls. Each game was decided by a single run at 4-3 and 11-10 with Mike Kindel (Kansas State) hitting the game-winning three-run homerun in Friday night's 4-3 win in the ninth inning.

With eight players representing the Golden Eagles at the PGCBL All Star game this past Monday, catcher Dan Klein (Kansas State) and DH/RHP David Olson (Tacoma CC) each starred leading the Eastern Division to a 7-4 victory. Klein picked up two RBI while also hitting a triple for the Eastern squad. Olson also added two RBI with one coming off a solo homerun in the second inning while earning the win in relief pitching the eighth inning.

Tuesday, following the All Star break, the Golden Eagles ended the week with the sweep of a doubleheader vs. the Watertown Wizards to give Glens Falls six straight wins. Kayvon Bahramzadeh (Kansas St.) and Brennan Perry (Southern Maine) earned the wins for the green and gold with impressive performances to cap a spectacular week for Coach Mayotte's team.

With a half game lead over the Amsterdam Mohawks in the PGCBL Eastern Division following the doubleheader sweep, the Golden Eagles will be fighting for a playoff spot and the top seed over the next two weeks. The two rivals will face off twice more on the road at Shuttleworth Park in key games.

This week, the Golden Eagles will host Cooperstown Thursday for Achenbach's Jewelers Diamond Dig Night including a celebration of Coach Mayotte's recent 200th victory with the team. Friday will be a doubleheader game vs. Albany serving as a fundraiser for the Association for the Hearing Impaired. Saturday, will be Free Ice Cream Night vs. Newark. Ending the rankings week will be The Post Star Night on Tuesday vs. Elmira with foam fingers being given away to the first 250 children.
