Golden Eagles Prevail Over Dutchmen, 11-8 To End Skid

The Glens Falls Golden Eagles defeated the Albany Dutchmen 11-8 on Monday night at East Field. The win improves Glens Falls to 16-13 on the season and halts their 3 game losing skid. With the loss, Albany falls to 13-14 on the season.

The winning pitcher for the Golden Eagles was Jake Doller (Kansas St.) who goes to 2-1, while Austin Chase (UAlbany) takes the loss and drops to 1-3.

The Dutchmen would strike early on in this one, after an RBI single by Zach Remillard (La Salle Institute) plated Nolan Gaige (UAlbany) who had singled to start the game.

Glens Falls would answer back with a pair of runs in the same frame, as an RBI single by Alberto Morales (Clarendon) and an RBI double by Mike Vigliarolo (St.Louis) brought home the runs.

Will Remillard (Coastal Carolina) tied the score at two apiece in the top of the 2nd with a solo homer off Glens Falls starter Nick Pivetta (New Mexico JC), his second of the season.

In the bottom of the 2nd, a double and single put runners on 2nd and 3rd with two outs for Ross Kivett (Kansas St.) who hit a fly ball to left field that glanced off the glove of Albany's Jack Wietlispach (Parkland) and scored the two runs.

The game would remain that way until the 5th, when an RBI single by Adam Young (UC Davis) scored Nick Chapman (UNC Greensboro) who had walked with two down in the inning.

Glens Falls tacked on their fifth run of the night in the 5th after Kivett walked, stole second and came around to score on an RBI double by Morales.

The Dutchmen would fight back to take the lead in the top of the 6th, after Pivetta allowed a walk and a single before being pulled in favor of Doller. The Kansas St. product retired Ben Douglas (Southern Idaho) on an RBI groundout, before giving up an RBI double to Jared Martin (Cumberlands (K.Y.)) and a run-scoring single to Chapman. Those runs made the score 6-5 Albany through five and a half.

The Golden Eagles would take the lead for good in the bottom of the same frame, when Emmanuel Forcier (New Mexico JC) cleared the bases with a three-run homer into the right field seats. Kevin Meyers (N.E. Oklahoma A&M) reached on an error and Buddy Putnam (South Florida) doubled to start the rally before Forcier brought home both runners.

Glens Falls would add a trio of insurance runs in the bottom of the seventh, as a two-run triple by Casey Rodrigue (LSU- Eunice) scored Morales and Vigliarolo. Providing the 11th and final run of the night for the home team was Putnam with an RBI single to bring home Rodrigue.

After a scoreless eighth for both sides, Albany would account for the final margin with a pair of runs in the top of the ninth. Chapman walked to lead off, took second on a defensive indifference and came home on an RBI double by Gaige. Zach Remillard would drive in the final run of the evening by grounding into a 4-6-3 double play.

Glens Falls will enjoy a day off tomorrow, before traveling to Elmira on Wednesday for a 7:05 P.M. start. Albany will head to Amsterdam to face the league-leading Mohawks at 7:05 tomorrow.
