Goaltender Daren Machesney Returns to Stingrays

North Charleston, SC - The South Carolina Stingrays, proud ECHL affiliate of the Washington Capitals, announced today that goaltender Daren Machesney has returned to the team from the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).
Machesney, 25, went 0-2-1 in three games with the Bears earning a 4.42 goals-against average (GAA) and .810 save percentage. The Hamilton, Ontario, native registered an 11-9-0 record with a 2.28 (GAA) and .921 save percentage in 20 games with the Stingrays during the 2011-12 regular season. In two postseason contests, Machesney is 1-1 with 1.51 GAA and .935 save percentage. The 6-foot, 185-pound goaltender was selected by the Capitals in the fifth round (143rd overall) of the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
