INDIANAPOLIS (Thursday, February 5, 2014) - Indy Eleven goalkeeper Kristian Nicht will get a jump on the 2015 season after being sent to Major League Soccer's Montreal Impact on a month-long loan earlier today. Financial terms of the loan agreement will not be announced, but the deal will last through March 4, at which time Nicht will re-join Indy Eleven for the remainder of its preseason plans.

Nicht has been called up in an emergency situation for Montreal, which has only one eligible goalkeeper on its roster for the MLS side's upcoming CONCACAF Champions League Quarterfinal Round series against Mexican power Pachuca. Montreal is without the services of two goalkeepers - Maxime Crepeau (injury) and Eric Kronberg ("cup-tied" with Sporting KC) - forcing the team to find a second goalkeeper to pair alongside Evan Bush.

"I'm looking forward to this challenge and giving my all to Montreal across the next month. I greatly appreciate their faith in bringing me aboard during this important stretch for their club," said Nicht, the first signing in Indy Eleven's history.

Montreal will travel to Estadio Hidalgo in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico, to face Pachuca on Tuesday, Feb. 24 (10:00 p.m. ET), before hosting the return leg at Stade Olympique in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, a week later on March 3 (8:00 p.m. ET). Both matches will air live on FOX Sports 2.

"We are thrilled that Kristian will have the opportunity to fight for quality minutes in some incredibly meaningful games for Montreal in the coming weeks," said Indy Eleven Director of Soccer Operations/Head Coach Juergen Sommer. "Kristian's a true professional that will serve Montreal well, and we get the added benefit of him getting a jump on fitness and sharpness for our preseason plans."

The 32-year-old Nicht started all 27 NASL regular season contests and both appearances in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup for Indy Eleven during its inaugural season in 2014. Nicht hit his peak towards the end of the 2014 campaign, with his 397-minute shutout streak across September and October setting a new record for a goalkeeper in the modern era of the NASL.

While in Quebec, Nicht will be reunited with Impact midfielder Blake Smith, who joined Indy Eleven on loan from the MLS side last May and made 19 league appearances for the "Boys in Blue."
