Goalie and two rookies coming to camp

[Macon, Ga.]—Head Coach Tommy Stewart has been working the phones for weeks to sure up his roster for the upcoming season. Last year as a rookie coach he built a team that made the league finals, this year he wants to take that a step further.

After securing some key veterans over the past couple weeks, Stewart has signed goalie Dave Marlin and defensemen Dominic Dawes and Mike Walling to the roster. Marlin is a three year veteran while Dawes and Walling are both rookies.

Marlin, a Downingtown, Penn. native, has spent the last three seasons in the ECHL. He appeared in 17 games posting a 5-4-2 record with a 3.07 goals against average.

"Dave has been a solid goalie in the Coast the past few season." said Stewart, "He just needs a home where he can play on a regular basis and get games under his belt."

Last season Stewart was looking high and low to sure up his defense. He is starting early this year with two promising rookies that will be in camp.

Dawes comes to the Trax after a solid career at Norwich University. In 101 games he scored 47 points (16G, 31A). His biggest came during the 2003 NCAA tournament. The Utica, N.Y. native scored the game winning goal in the quarterfinals, capping a Cadet comeback after being down 4-1. Norwich eventually went on to claim the 2003 NCAA Championship.

Walling was an anchor on defense for four years at the Rochester Institute of Technology, the same college that produced Luke Murphy. In 91 games the 5'10" 171-pounder scored 38 points (8G, 30A) and amassed 230 penalty minutes. In his senior season he led the Tigers with a +16 rating, and ended up with a +79 plus/minus for his collegiate career.

"Both the defenseman came from top notch Division III college programs." said Stewart, "Each of them have come highly recommend from people I have talked to that know them. I expect them to make an impact in their rookie season.
