Los Angeles Sparks News Release

LOS ANGELES - The Los Angeles Sparks will host Go Green Night, presented by Waste Management, this Friday, Aug. 12 when the Sparks take on the Phoenix Mercury at STAPLES Center at 7:30 p.m.

This year, the Sparks have teamed up with Waste Management for the "Bag Your Shoes" campaign. Fans are encouraged to bring any new or gently-used shoes and sneakers to STAPLES Center before Sparks games on Aug. 9 and 12. In return, they'll receive a pair of biodegradable shoelaces courtesy of Waste Management and a raffle ticket for a chance to serve as an honorary coach at an upcoming Sparks home game.

All shoes collected will be donated to Goodwill Southern California. The collection point is the Waste Management table outside the Star Plaza Entrance to STAPLES Center STAPLES Center (southeast side of arena).

Also in celebration of Go Green Night, Waste Management will be giving away recyclable lunch bags to the first 5,000 Sparks fans at the game. One special bag will contain a $100 gift card.

Continuing with the theme, a special Waste Management Go Green contest will be held during Friday's game. One lucky fan will be selected to participate in the "Grab for Green" cash machine contest on-court at STAPLES Center. All cash grabbed in the allotted 30 seconds will be matched and donated to Goodwill Southern California.

Tickets for Friday's Go Green Night - as well as all remaining Sparks home contests - are available online at LASparks.com, by phone at 877-44-SPARKS (772757), at the STAPLES Center box office and at all Ticketmaster outlets. Season tickets, as well as flexible mini-plan options, are also available.
