Glens Falls Dragons News Release
Glens Falls: The Eagles avenged 2 losses to the Albany Dutchmen earlier this week by defeating the Dutchmen by a score of 6-0 infront of a crowd of 2,048 people on the Price Chopper Reading Game night.
Jack Fowler (Felician) never let the Dutchmen get comfortable in Glens Falls as he pitched 7 innings while fanning 7 batters and allowing only 4 hits of which two came off the bat of Adam Lee (Lipscomb) who was a perfect 2 for 2 with two doubles off the Eagles Southpaw.
The Dutchmen starter, Steven Ghiardi pitched well, as he dueled with Fowler at the start but tired in the middle innings as he threw 3.2 innings and allowed 5 runs but only 4 earned while allowing 5 hits and fanning 3 Eagles batters.
John Lynn (Wagner) helped the Eagles offensively as he drove in 2 runs and scored another as he went 1 for 4 from the plate.
Adam Lee turned out to be the lone offensive bright spot for the Dutchmen as they came into the game batting .189 against lefties, a number that went down against the Fowler as they went 4 for 22 good for a .182 batting average against.
The Dutchmen seemed to be getting to the tiring Jack Fowler in the 7th inning as they loaded the bases with no one out. Fowler would bear down and work out of the jam as he struck out Will Miller (Albermarle) swinging then got Ryan Toomey (Georgetown) swinging before getting Dave Vaccaro (Radford) to line out to the short stop JQ Folena (Cabrillo).
The Eagles would do most of their damage in the bottom of the 4th as Colton Montgomery came up with the bases loaded and no one out and was hit by a Ghiardi fastball to drive in the first run of the game. John Lynn (Wagner) would single on the next pitch to drive in a run. Danny Oliveri (Triton) would add another run with a sac fly to deep left to score Folena. Mark Powell (Bucknell) then drilled a double to left field that would score Colton Montgomery and Lynn would score on a fielding error by the left fielder.
Glens Falls would tack on a lone run in the 8th on a John Lynn groundout that would score JQ Folena.
