Backstop: Gladiators netminder Joe Fallon notched a career best 40 saves in the Gladiators 2-1 win over South Carolina on January 19th. He then bested that mark with a 42 save performance for Gwinnett on January 24th in a 4-1 loss at Florida. Fallon's 42 saves is also a season best for Gladiators netminders this season.

Jumping right in: The Gladiators acquired defenseman Mike Looby from the Dayton Bombers in exchange for future considerations on January 21st. In his first game with the Gladiators, Looby notched an assist on the game's first goal helping Gwinnett to a 3-1 win over Florida on January 23rd.

A first: Netminder Kevin Regan posted 28 saves to notch his first win as a Gladiator as Gwinnett defeated Florida 3-1 in January 23rd. In two games with the Gladiators this season after being assigned to Gwinnett from AHL Providence, Regan has posted a 2.50 goals againt average and a .904 save percentage.

All Star Appearance: Forward Jordan Fox represented the Gladiators in the 2009 ECHL All Star Game in Reading, Pennsylvania on Wednesday, January 21st. Fox notched a pair of assists in the contest helping the American Conference to an 11-5 win over the National Conference.

One Goal Affair: The Gladiators skated in their 18th one goal game in a 2-1 win over the South Carolina Stigrays on January 19th. For the Gladiators, it was their ninth one goal win of the season as Gwinnett is 9-5-4 this season in one goal games. The Gladiators first loss in a one goal game came against the Charlotte Checkers in a 1-0 loss on November 23rd. Gwinnett was 5-1-4 in their first 10 one-goal games.

Cheerleading Night: Friday, January 30th when the Gladiators host Charlotte at 7:35 p.m. is the Gladiators Cheerleading night presented by Impact Cheerleading. Backpack night: Saturday, January 31st when the Gladiators host Florida at 7:05 p.m. is the Gladiators annual backpack night presented by Peggy Slappey Properties, Clayton Dental, Charter Communications, 104.7 The Fish and the Gwinnett Daily Post. The first 2,000 kids ages 12 and under will get a Gladiators backpack at the game.

Last Week's Games: January 19th, Gwinnett 2, South Carolina 1 - W Myles Stoesz notched the game's first goal just two minutes into the first period and the Gladiators held on for the 2-1 win. The Gladiators pushed their lead to 2-0 midway through the third on a goal by Jeff Mason. South Carolina got on the board with less than a minute left in the third. Gwinnett clamped down in the final minute for the win. Gwinnett went 1-for-3 on the power play while keeping the Stingrays off the board on the power play. Joe Fallon notched 40 saves for the win for Gwinnett.

January 23rd, Gwinnett 3, Florida 1 - W Travis Fuller notched the game's first goal late in the third period to snap a scoreless tie. Florida equalized the game in the third before Scott Marchesi was able to regain the lead for Gwinnett just three minutes later. Dirk Southern posted a third goal for Gwinnett on the power play to roud out the scoring. The Gladiators got assists from Andy Brandt, Jeff Dunne, Mike Looby, J-C Sawyer and Matt Siddall. Gwinnett went 1-for-6 on the power play in the win. Kevin Regan made 28 saves for his first win with Gwinnett.

January 24th, Floirda 4, Gwinnett 1 - L Florida scored twice in the first period and cruised to the 4-1 win over Gwinnett snapping the Gladiators winning streak at two games. The Everblades pushed their lead to 3-0 early in the second before Andy Brandt posted the Gladiators only goal of the game. Dirk Southern and Josh Engel collected the assists on the power play goal for Gwinnett. Florida put the game away with the only goal of the third period late in the final stanza. Joe Fallon finished with a career best 42 saves in the losing effort for Gwinnett. The Gladiators went 1-for-7 on the power play in the loss.

This Week's Games: Tuesday, January 27th @ South Carolina Stingrays, 7:05 p.m. - WDUN News Talk 550 Gwinnett has won the last three meetings against the Stingrays this season and have posted a 4-2-1 record against South Carolina this year. Jordan Fox has posted 7 points from a goal and 6 assists to lead the Gladiators in scoring against south Carolina this year.

Friday, January 30th vs. Charlotte Checkers, 7:35 p.m. - WDUN News Talk 550

Gwinnett is 3-2-1 against the Checkers this season after posting a 5-3 win at Charlotte on January 9th. Gwinnett is unbeaten in regulation against the Checkers this season at the Arena at Gwinnett Center recording a 2-0-1 record this year. Pat Bateman's 8 points in tops on the Gladiators against the Checkers this season.

Saturday, January 31st vs. Floirda Everblades, 7:05 p.m. - wdun.com The Gladiators are 2-7-0 agasint the Everblades this season after splitting a pair of games at the Germain Arena last week. Matt Siddall leads the Gladiators in scoring against the Everblades this season post 2 goals and 2 assists for 4 points in 6 games this season.
