
Gladiators Ink Northern Michigan Pair

The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have agreed to terms with forward Tim Hartung and defenseman Blake Cosgrove for the 2009-10 season. Both players skated with Northern Michigan University last season.
Hartung skated five seasons with Northern Michigan where he served as team captain during the 2008-09 season. Last year, he notched 3 goals and 10 assists for 13 points in 37 games for the Wildcats. After appearing in just five games during the 2004-05 season, he redshirted the year due to an injury.
The Apple Valley, Minnesota native appeared in 128 career collegiate games with Northern Michigan University. He collected 10 goals and 28 assists for 38 points during his five year collegiate career.
Cosgrove finished his senior season ranked second among Wildcat blueliners with 13 points, all assists, in 39 games last year. He finished with a +12 plus/minus rating last year while posting a career best +14 during the 2007-08 season. He finished his collegiate career at Northern Michigan with 1 goal and 23 asssits for 24 points in 122 career collegiate games.
Prior to joining Northern Michigan, the Chilliwack, B.C. native played in 56 games with the Chilliwack Chiefs of the British Columbia [Junior] Hockey League in 2003-04. He finished with 8 goals and 32 assists for 40 points. Cosgrove also collected 4 points (2g, 2a) in 11 playoff games with Chilliwack.
Began in 1988-89 with five teams playing in four states, the Premier 'AA' Hockey League has grown into a coast-to-coast league that is the third-longest tenured professional hockey league behind only the National Hockey League and the American Hockey League. The ECHL averaged 4,174 per game last season, marking the fourth year in row and the 16th time in the last 18 years that the league has averaged over 4,000 fans. The league has drawn over four million fans each of the last five years and 11 times in the past 12 seasons.
