Giants Pound Quakes 7-1

Rancho Cucamonga, CA- San Jose jumped on the scoreboard first against the Quakes' ace Sean O'Sullivan in the third inning. After two straight infield singles, Brad Boyer singled to left to drive home the first run. With two outs and runners on first and second, Brett Pill singled to right field to score another run and give the Giants a 2-0 lead.

The Giants got to O'Sullivan again in the fifth inning as four runs came across. After a bloop double down the left field line and an error put runners on the corners, Brad Boyer singled to right to drive in the first run. With runners on first and third again, Matt Downs hit a sacrifice fly to score the second run. Brett Pill then doubled to left center to score the third run and Bobby Felmy singled up the middle to make the score 6-0.

O'Sullivan was taken out of the game after the fifth inning after allowing six runs, five earned while striking out four. AJ Ford came in for the sixth and after he got two quick outs, allowed a single and a batter reached on PJ Phillips second error of the game to put runners on first and third. Brad Boyer came up with another RBI single to make it a 7-0 Giants lead.

The Quakes finally got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI single by Efren Navarro to score Reggie Willits to bring the score to 7-1.

The Quakes would lose by that final score, but they pounded out 10 hits and stranded eight on base. Rancho will send right hander Jordan Walden to the mound in the series finale against right hander Kevin Pucetas of the Giants. Game time is scheduled for 7:05pm.
