Vancouver Giants News Release

The Vancouver Giants were shutout for just the second time this season, falling 3-0 to the Seattle Thunderbirds Tuesday night at the ShoWare Center in Kent, Washington. The Giants are 1-2-0-0 in 3 meetings this year vs. the Thunderbirds.

With both teams missing their top offensive players, defense was the priority and it showed through the first 40 minutes of play as neither team was able to find the back of the net. Shots were 21-19 after two periods in favour of Vancouver. In the third period, Branden Troock broke the scoreless draw with 4:33 remaining in regulation on a great individual effort to put the Thunderbirds up 1-0. They home side would get another goal 1:09 later and then add an empty netter to make it a 3-0 final. Calvin Pickard made 37 saves for the shutout. Adam Morrison made 25 saves. Both teams finished 0-for-3 on the power play.

The Giants are back in action this Friday when they head to Prince George to take on the Cougars for two games. Puck drop is 7:00 pm. The pregame show begins at 6:30 pm on AM 650.
