Giants Drop a 6-5 Overtime Thriller to Kamloops

Vancouver, B.C. - Wednesday night at the Ladner Leisure Centre, the Vancouver Giants (0-0-1-0) dropped a dramatic 6-5 overtime decision to the Kamloops Blazers (2-0-0-1) in preseason action. Connor Levis struck at 3:06 of overtime to clinch the victory for the visitors and his third point of the night. Matthew Seminoff, Reese Belton, and Nick McCarry all had multi-point games for Kamloops while Ty Thorpe, Adam Hall and Kaden Kohle each had multi-point efforts for Vancouver. The Giants goals came courtesy of: Tanner Brown, Ty Thorpe, Jaden Lipinski, Kaden Kohle and Marko Stacha.

1st Period:

VAN - The first Giants goal of the preseason came courtesy of Tanner Brown. His point-shot snuck through a screen and past Dylan Ernst to stake his team to a 1-0 lead. The time of the goal was 7:16.

VAN - 66 seconds later, the G-Men capitalized on another power play. This time It was Ty Thorpe, who crept in close, and finished off a passing play with Adam Hall and Payton Mount at 8:22.

VAN - Rookie Jaden Lipinski made it 3-0 Vancouver in close off a high shot to the glove side of Ernst. His first of the preseason was unassisted.

VAN - Kaden Kohle bagged the final goal of the period at 15:56 off a slick feed from Payton Mount. Nicco Camazzola earned the second assist.

Shots Through 1: 9-7 Kamloops

2nd Period:

KAM - Veteran forward Nick McCarry put Kamloops on the board at 11:04 of the first period off a nifty goal from the left side of the net. The lone assist came via Kaden Hammell.

Kamloops Goaltending Change - Jesse Makaj comes in for Dylan Ernst.

KAM - Fraser Minten moved Kamloops back within a pair with a goal off the rush. The lone assist on Minten's third of the preseason came via Josh Pillar. The time of the goal was 14:02.

KAM - 65 seconds later Matthew Seminoff made it a one-goal came when he buried his fourth of the preseason. The lone helper on Seminoff's goal came via Connor Levis.

KAM GOAL - The Blazers completed their four-goal frame at 19:58 when Mats Lindgren snuck his second of the preseason past Drew Sim. Connor Levis and Reese Belton both drew the assists.

Shots Through 2: 23-20 Kamloops

3rd Period:

KAM GOAL - Kamloops took their first lead of the night when 2005-born forward Emmitt Finnie raced in on a clear-cut breakaway and roofed a forehand shot over Drew Sim. The goal came at 11:30.

VAN GOAL - The G-Men answered 64 seconds later when defenceman Marko Stacha scored an eerily similar goal to Finnie's from moments earlier. Stacha's goal was set up by Connor Horning at 12:34.

Shots Through 3: 33-26 Kamloops

OT

KAM Goal - Connor Levis ended the game at 3:06 of overtime when he followed up a Reese Belton rebound, and knocked it home to clinch the Blazers their second victory of the exhibition season.
