The Flames earned a regulation point in a hard-fought 3-2 shootout loss to Chicago on Saturday at Allstate Arena. Carsen Germyn and Cam Cunning scored the goals for Quad City with Cunning's third period marker forcing the extra session.

Carsen Germyn netted the lone goal of the opening period when he sent home a rocket on a one-timer following a feed from Kyle Greentree. The tally stood up as Leland Irving stopped all eight Chicago shots he saw in the opening period.

The Wolves took the lead on a pair of second period markers. Brett Sterling set up Matt Anderson for the Wolves first tally on a shot from the left wing circle. Chicago moved in front eleven minutes later when Sterling fed Joey Crabb, who snuck the puck past Irving for his 15th goal of the year. The Wolves skated off with a 2-1 lead after 40 minutes of play.

Cam Cunning forced the extra session when he scored the only goal of the third period at 4:43 of the closing frame. After John Vigilante's 2-on-1 chance was kicked aside by Ondrej Pavelec, Cunning scooped up the rebound and scored his fifth goal of the year to tie the game at two.

After a scoreless overtime, the teams headed to a shootout. Through the first five shooters, the contest was tied at one on goals by Quad City's Justin Bowers and Chicago's Joey Motzko. In the sixth round, Bowers and Motzko again traded goals to force a seventh frame. After both goaltenders held serve, Chicago's Brett Skinner scored in the top of the eighth round. Pavelec denied Vigilante in the bottom of the round to secure the win for Chicago.

The Flames play their penultimate road game on Sunday in Iowa. Face-off is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show begins at 4:40 p.m. on 93.9 FM WYEC. Fans can also watch the game for just $6.00 at ahllive.com.
