Georgia Force News Release

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, January 4, 2005 – The Georgia Force will officially open their 2005 training camp on Thursday, January 6, at the Atlanta Falcons training facility in Flowery Branch. The Force will conduct all their training camp operations in a newly constructed facility, unprecedented among AFL teams, specifically built for the team. The venue will include locker rooms for players and coaches, training room, equipment room, and meeting rooms. The Force's new facility is also connected to the Falcons indoor practice field, which will include a full AFL net system and inflatable boundary walls.

With 22 new players signing with the Force this offseason as free agents, including ALL-AFL players quarterback Jim Kubiak and lineman Jermaine Smith, competition in camp will be the strongest in the team's four year history. The Georgia Force's complete 2005 training camp roster is attached.

ROSTER SIZES:

The Force enter training camp with 37 players vying for 24 roster spots. Using a league exemption for international player Ola Kimrin, kicker from Sweden, the team will be able to bring one more player to camp above the league mandated 37-player training camp roster if desired.

All AFL teams will be required to reduce their active rosters to 24 players by 3 p.m. (EST) on the Monday, January 24. That date also marks the beginning of the signing period for practice squad players. Each team may carry up to four players on their practice squad. This is in addition to their 24-man roster.

FORCE & NASHVILLE KATS WORKOUTS:

The Force will travel to Nashville from Wednesday, January 12 through Friday, January 14, to conduct a three-day workout with the Nashville Kats. These combined practices will allow both teams to better prepare for the season since the AFL has no preseason games.

The Georgia Force kick off their fourth season in the AFL on January 29th versus the New Orleans VooDoo in Philips Arena under the direction of new owner Arthur M. Blank, owner & CEO of the Atlanta Falcons, and new head coach Doug Plank. Georgia Force season tickets start as low as $39. A network-TV sport, the AFL will celebrate its third season on NBC in 2005 and additionally will have over 100 games broadcast on Fox Regional Sports Networks.
