Georgia Force News Release

FLOWERY BRANCH, GA, October 19, 2004 – The Georgia Force announced the signing of four players today as the team continues to add players in preparation for the 2005 season beginning in January. The Force have signed wide receiver/linebacker Chris Curd, kicker Nelson Garner, kicker Ola Kimrin and offensive/defensive lineman Adam Metts. Terms of the contracts were not disclosed.

CURD (6-3, 216, Pittsburgh) recently attended training camp with the Atlanta Falcons in 2004 and saw action in three preseason contests primarily on special teams. Curd will be no stranger to the two-way Ironman style of play in the AFL, having played both defensive back and wide receiver in college.

GARNER (6-1, 180, James Madison) is a five-year AFL veteran, who joins the Force coming over from the Arizona Rattlers. With the Rattlers, he has kicked in two straight ArenaBowls the last two seasons. For his career, Garner carries an extra point percentage of 87.4 %, a field goal percentage of 47.6 % and once connected on a 58-yard field goal in 2000 with the Albany Firebirds.

KIMRIN (6-3, 225, UTEP) will be placed on the Force's Other League Exempt roster, as he was signed by the Washington Redskins this past weekend. In 2002 with the Denver Broncos, he kicked a 65-yard field goal in an exhibition game, which would have beaten the NFL record of 63 yards had it been during a regular season contest.

METTS (6-1, 280, North Carolina) returns to the Force, where he began his AFL career in 2002. He played in 14 games last season with the New Orleans VooDoo and has registered 11.5 tackles and one pass break-up for his career.

The Georgia Force begin a new chapter in their team history when they kick off their fourth season in the Arena Football League in January 2005. This past August, the AFL's board of directors voted to approve Arthur M. Blank, owner & CEO of the Atlanta Falcons, as the new owner of the Georgia Force. Along with the ownership change, the Force will be led on the field by new head coach Doug Plank and will be returning to downtown Atlanta to play their home games at Philips Arena.
