Genesis Properties Named Host Hotels

Brandon, Manitoba - With the 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup less than two months away, the Local Host Organizing Committee is pleased to announce that Genesis Hospitality and its two Brandon properties - Victoria Inn and The Royal Oak Inn have been chosen the Host Hotels for the 11-day National Championship.

In addition to serving as the Host Hotels, the Victoria and Royal Oak Inn and Suites will be home to two of the four competing clubs. As well, the Victoria Inn will host the MasterCard Memorial Cup Opening Gala, scheduled for Thursday, May 13th. In addition to serving as the official Arrival to Brandon Ceremony of the Memorial Cup, the Banquet will be used to introduce the public to the Champions of the Quebec Major Junior, the Ontario and Western Hockey League.

The Memorial Cup Host Hotels will also serve as site of the Memorial Cup Golf Tournament Breakfast as well as the Volunteer Appreciation to be held the week immediately following the prestigious Championship.

The 2010 MasterCard Memorial Cup is scheduled to run from May 14-23rd at Brandon's Keystone Centre, marking the first time that the Championship has been hosted in the province of Manitoba since becoming a Tournament format.

On the ice, the Wheat Kings continue preparations for their best of seven WHL opening round series with the Swift Current Broncos. The first two games of the WHL Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series will be played this Friday and Saturday nights at Westman Place.
