Generals Weekly Notes
ON THE RECORD: With two more losses this weekend, both at the hands of Dayton, the Generals have entered their longest losing streak of the season which now stands at 6 games. Friday's game at Perani saw a goalie change from JF Labbe to rookie Rob Nolan to begin the second period, something that had not happened this season for the Gens. Nolan allowed only 1 goal in 40 minutes. He got the start Sunday in Dayton and again was fantastic, but once again the team was unable to put the puck in the net.
SCORING SCHAAFSMA: Jamie Schaafsma has been the scoring savior of the Generals this season, leading the team both in goals (7) and assists (8) for 15 points, and also leads the team in shots with 51.
WINNING WOES: Winning games has been a difficult task for the Generals so far this season, only managing 3 wins in 16 games. The biggest reason has been the lack of finding the back of the net. Labbe has been pretty good overall, and Nolan has been fantastic, but the offense has not been able to get things going.
MILESTONES: With his assist on Sunday, John Ronan reached 80 career assists. Craig Cescon will play in his 80th career game on Wednesday. Nate Ward is still searching for his next goal in order to hit 50 career goals.
THIS WEEK ON THE ICE: The Generals have 4 games in 5 days this week starting Wednesday, November 25th when they host $1 Draft Night and Coats for Kids as the Muskegon Lumberjacks visit Perani. The last time these two Michigan teams met, despite the great play of Rob Nolan the 'Jacks dominated, winning 6-3.
Thursday, the boys head to Fort Wayne for a Thanksgiving contest with the Komets. This is only the second meeting between the teams this season, the previous game ended in a Fort Wayne shootout win.
Friday brings meeting number six (6) between the Generals and the Gems. Dayton has won each of the previous five games; Ryan Mior has been in net for each.
Sunday the Gens head back to Perani Arena for their second matchup of the week with the 'Jacks. The game will be broadcast on Super Talk 1570. Puck drops at 4:00pm.
All of the games this week are available for viewing through the B2 Networks or just listening live, both options are accessible through our website www.flintgenerals.com.
