
IHL Announces Weekly Honors For Week Six

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Muskegon left wing John DiPace has been named the IHL Player of the Week, Muskegon goaltender Matt Lundin has been named the IHL Rookie of the Week and Port Huron goaltender Adam Russo has been named the IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, November 22nd, 2009.
DiPace finished the week recording a total of six points in three games. He extended his goal scoring streak to five games after knocking in three more goals this week. He also dished out three assists, going plus-six on the week. He scored the game-winning goal for Muskegon Wednesday in the 5-3 win over Port Huron and again Saturday in the -ËJacks 2-1 win over Quad City. The 27-year-old Clinton Township, Michigan native is currently third in the IHL in scoring with 25 points (9 goals, 16 assists) in 15 games played. DiPace also leads the IHL in plus/minus rating with a plus-20. He is also currently riding an eight game point streak, registering 17 points (7 goals, 10 assists) in that stretch.
Other players nominated for the IHL Player of the Week include: Bloomington forward Jamie Carroll, Dayton forward John Snowden, Flint forward Jamie Schaafsma, Fort Wayne center Colin Chaulk, Port Huron center Derek Patrosso and Quad City right wing Patrick Levesque.
Lundin wrapped up the sixth week of his rookie season recording one win in the only start he had for the Lumberjacks. He played just over 61 minutes and only allowed one goal against in the overtime contest Saturday against the Mallards, giving him a 0.98 goals against average for the week. Lundin made a total of 19 saves with a.950 save percentage, increasing his season total to.920. The 23- year-old Apple Valley, Minnesota native has won all four games he has played, starting off his first full professional season with a 4-0-0-0 record.
Other players nominated for the IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington forward Mark McIlvane, Dayton forward Tim Hartung, Flint goaltender Rob Nolan, Fort Wayne defenseman Keith Rodger, Port Huron left wing Mickeal Bedard and Quad City center Justin White.
Russo finished the week with a 2-0-0-0 record for the Icehawks, increasing his season record to 6-2-0-0. He only allowed two goals against in the two games played, giving him a 1.00 goals against average for the week. Russo had a.958 save percentage, making a total of 46 saves. He stopped every shot he faced in both games in the third period, helping propel the Icehawks to two more wins at home. The 26-year-old Montreal, Quebec native has the league's best record and is second in goals against average and save percentage among goalies with at least five starts this season.
Other goaltenders nominated for the IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Andrew Martin, Dayton's Ryan Mior, Flint's Rob Nolan, Fort Wayne's Tim Haun, Muskegon's Sebastien Centomo and Quad City's Sebastien Laplante.
