Generals Walk Off with Extra Inning Win Saturday Night

JACKSON, TENN. - For the second straight night at Pringles Park, the Generals walked off with a win in extra innings. On Saturday the Generals clad in Memphis Chicks throwback jerseys won in 10 innings over M-Braves 3-2 in front of 4,516 fans. Francisco Martinez delivered a bases loaded, one out single in the 10th to win it. Jackson takes four of six from the Braves and have won three straight.

Jackson is now 5-9 in extra inning contests this season.

Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the second inning, Mike Zunino belted his first Double-A homer to left. The homer for the Mariners No. 3 overall pick this year tied the game at 1-1.

Jamie Pedroza gave the Braves back the lead 2-1 in the top of the fourth with a solo homer to right. The lead didn't last long as Rich Poythress delivered an RBI double to right tying the game at 2-2.

The game remained tied until the bottom of the 10th inning. Chih-Hsien Chiang singled with one out and Johermyn Chavez reached on an error putting runners on the corners. The M-Braves intenetinally walked Denny Almonte to load the bases for Martinez. On a 0-1 count Martinez singled to deep right-center scoring Chiang for the game winner, 3-2.

Starter Taijuan Walker took a no decision despite his longest outing of the season, 8.0 innings. Walker allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, striking out 3 and walking 3. Reliever Forrest Snow (3-5) pitched a scoreless 10th and earned the win. Chris Jones (2-4) took the loss for Mississippi.

The Generals start a two city, 10-game road trip Sunday in Mobile with game one of a five-game series. First pitch is at 5:05 p.m. at Hank Aaron Stadium. LHP James Paxton (7-4, 3.09) starts for the Generals against LHP David Holmberg (4-4, 3.86) for Mobile.
