
Generals top Port Huron 6-3

Flint Generals News Release
Flint, MI - The Flint Generals defeated division rivals the Port Huron Flags 6-3 tonight at Perani Arena & Event Center.
1st Period - Flint's John Glavota opened the scoring with a power play goal 12:23 into the period. Port Huron answered with a pair of goals by Blake Stewart and Steve Dix to take a 2-1 lead into the first intermission.
2nd Period - Peter Brady came in to replace Jason Saal who played all of the first period. Glavota scored his second power play goal of the game for the Generals to even the game at 2-2 at 12:01 of the second. Flint's Matt Cavanagh was awarded a penalty shot but failed to capitalize. Play then resumed and Flint's Leo Thomas scored quickly to give Flint the lead again. Port Huron's Trevor Edwards would even the game with a late power play goal at 18:07. Flint's Brent Sullivan would score a shorthanded goal with 35 seconds remaining in the period to give the Generals a 4-3 lead going into the final period.
3rd Period - The third period remained scoreless until the Generals Sean Starke picked up his own rebound on a sharp angle shot and stuffed home a goal with 3:17 remaining in the third to give the Generals a 5-3 lead. Port Huron pulled Hay with 2:22 remaining in the third and Flint's Matt Cavanagh immediately scored the empty netter to give Flint the 6-3 victory.

The Flint Generals travel to play division rivals the Motor City Mechanics Saturday night and return home to face the Port Huron Flags again on Sunday afternoon at 4:05pm. Motor City will remain one point behind Flint if they hold on to the 4-2 lead they have on Rockford with 3:41 remaining in that game at the time of this release.
