Generals Take Game 1 of Series with Cane Cutters 8-2

Victoria, Texas - The Victoria Generals defeated the Acadiana Cane Cutters 8-2 on Monday night at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.

The victory improves the Generals to 4-5 on the season, while the Cane Cutters fall to 3-4 with the loss. Game 2 will begin tomorrow at 7:05 PM at Riverside Stadium, which will be a free ticket night sponsored by Ashley HomeStore.

Generals starting pitcher Cole Wesneski went 6.0 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 4. Pedro Garcia came in for relief and pitched 2.0 innings, allowing no runs on 2 hits and 2 walks while striking out 3. Kal Kilgo and Tyler Crouch finished the game for the Generals.

SCORING SUMMARY

B2| With the bases loaded and no outs, Yaniel Ramos walked scoring the first run of the game for the Generals. Trent Brown would single scoring two runs, and Thomas Jefferies would single scoring one run. Generals 4, Cane Cutters 0.

B3| Michael Slaten singled to start the inning, and advanced all the way to third on a wild pitch. Parker Osburn would single, scoring Slaten. Osburn would eventually make his way around the bases, stealing home for another run. Generals 6, Cane Cutters 0.

B5| With two outs and a runner on third, a bad throw from the catcher to the third baseman in a pickoff attempt sent the runner Michael Slaten home for a run. Generals 7, Cane Cutters 0.

B7| Michael Williams singled to start the inning, and advanced to third after an error by the pitcher in a pickoff attempt. ONeal Lochridge would hit a double, scoring Williams. Generals 8, Cane Cutters 0.

T9| With the bases loaded and no outs, Rhett McCall singled scoring the first run of the game for the Cane Cutters. Mason Corbett grounded out to first, scoring a run. Generals 8, Cane Cutters 2.
