Generals Struggle in Loss to Cane Cutters

Victoria Generals watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in a 13-2 loss to Acadiana Cane Cutters on Tuesday.

The Generals struggled to get their bats going as only two runs were scored. Bryce Holmes singled on a hit to right field that allowed Broch Holmes to score. Cristian Cienfuegos singles on a line drive to right field that allows Bryce Holmes to score.

The Acadiana Cane Cutters' starter Josh Mancuso received the win tonight, going five innings, giving up one earned run on four hits, and recording one strikeout. In relief, Cy Fontenot and Cole Payne kept the Generals from scoring. Fontenot went two innings recording three strikeouts and giving up only two hits. Payne closed out the night, going two innings recording three strikeouts, and giving up one earned run on four hits.

The Cane Cutters' Will Veillion gets things started with a sacrifice fly to center field that allowed Jack Schell to score. Cole McConnell grounds into a double play and Schell scores. A single to right field by Jerrett McDonald brings in Veillion for the third run. McConnell singles on a hit to left field and Ethan Lege scores. Schell managed to score on an error made in left field. McDonald singles on a fly ball to center field that brings in both McConnell and Veillion. A single by McLeod allows McDonald to score. A three-run homer hit by Veillion that brought in Schell and McConnell. Schell singles on a hard ground ball to right field that brings in McLeod. Nathan Carriere hits a sacrifice fly to center field and Carson Jones scored the final run for the Cane Cutters.

Generals' starter Riley Egloff received the loss tonight, going four innings, giving up seven runs, six earned, on nine hits. Devon Patel, Alec Cruz, Mason Foster, and Josh Salinas tried to keep the Cane Cutters' bats at bay out of the bullpen. Patel pitched one inning giving up four earned runs on six hits and recording one strikeout. Cruz then went two innings recording one strikeout and giving up two earned runs on one hit. Mason Foster pitched one inning, only giving up one hit and recording one strikeout. Salinas went in for the ninth inning and struck out the side.
