
Generals Return Home Tonight At Perani Arena

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals have thrilled fans with some exciting hockey this season at Perani Arena and Event Center and tonight (Friday) should be no exception when they host the first place Fort Wayne at 7:30 pm. It's a battle of the top two teams in the International Hockey League.
These two teams will see a bit of each other over the course of the next two and a half weeks, meeting a total of three times including the next two in Fort Wayne. The Komets have won six in a row, while the Generals are coming off a huge victory on the road last Saturday night in Bloomington.
Flint beat Fort Wayne 9-3 in late December in the only other visit by the Komets to Generals' land.
It's game eight in the return to professional hockey for former three-time Stanley Cup Champion Darren McCarty. In seven games, McCarty has two goals and two assists for four points. One of those goals was a game winner.
The Flint Generals and the Fort Wayne Komets lead in many categories in the International Hockey League. The two teams are first and second in goals for and goals against. They are also among the top three in shots for and shots against. Komets goaltender Kevin Reiter leads the IHL in several different categories. Reiter leads the league in goals against average with a 2.29 mark and is also first in wins with 18. He is also first in minutes played, first in shutouts and save percentage.
Not to be outdone, Eric Marvin is close behind in many of those categories, too. Marvin is second in wins with 13 and minutes played. He leads Kevin Reiter by one save in the saves department.
This is the first of a three game weekend for the Generals that continues tomorrow (Saturday) night at Wings Stadium when they meet the Kalamazoo Wings. It's just the second trip to Kalamazoo for the Generals this season. Face-off is 7:30 pm.
The Generals and the Wings will meet again in the second of a home and home series on Sunday at 4 pm at Perani Arena and Event Center. There is a special promotion for families that day as fans can purchase an Adult ticket and receive a child ticket free. Must be purchased by Saturday.
