Fury Power Play Comes Alive

MUSKEGON - The Muskegon Fury went 3-for-5 on the power play and scored a convincing 6-1 victory over the Bloomington Prairie Thunder Friday at L.C. Walker Arena.

Fury goalie Clayton Pool stopped 32 of the 33 shots he faced in net, giving the lone goal up with just 1 minute and 33 seconds remaining in the contest.

Muskegon took control in the first period, when the scored three times in the final five minutes of the session. Robin Bouchard opened the scoring when took a pass from Chris Kovalcik he put a puck in the top left corner of the goal past Bloomington Goalie Loic Lacasse. Dan Reidel made it 2-0 just under 2 minutes later when he put a rebound of a Russ Moyer shot past Lacasse for a power play goal. Rafal Martynowski, playing in his 100th career game as a professional, made it 3-0 on the power play with 52 seconds remaining in the period when he sat a the right post and put one in off a feed from Mark Cadotte.

The Fury added a power play goal in the second period when Billy Collins deflected an Adam Bartholomay shot right in front of the net. David Segal and Cadotte added goals in the third period for the Fury past Bloomington backup Derek Dolson. In all, five Fury players (Russ Moyer, Sheldon Wing, Martynowski, Bouchard and Cadotte) had multiple points on the night.

Muskegon, which entered the contest last in the International Hockey League in the power play, went 3-for-5, while the Fury's league-leading penalty kill stopped all three Prairie Thunder opportunities. Muskegon improves 20-17-2-0, good for 42 points, fourth in the IHL. The Fury host the Fort Wayne Komets tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. at Walker Arena.
