Generals hittin' the links tomorrow

FLINT, MI - The Flint Generals of the United Hockey League open training camp on Monday, October 4, 2004 in preparation for year #12 as member team of the U.H.L. Before the rigorous work and preparation for the regular season begins, there is one more chance for a little fun with the 2nd Annual Flint Generals Golf Outing to be held Sunday, October 3, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at I.M.A. Brookwood Golf Course.

The Generals' players and front office staff will be teamed with a four-some in a golf scramble format with championship plaques and prizes to be distributed after the tournament. There will be steak dinner for all participants and a chance for the hockey fans, which purchased dinner tickets, to meet the players in training camp.

"What a fun event this will be," said Vice President & Head Coach, Robbie S. Nichols. "This event is great for our community the sponsors and fans of the Generals. It is great for my staff as well, as everyone has been working hard to get ready for training camp and the regular season. We send our thanks to the entire staff at I.M.A. Brookwood Golf Course for hosting this event once again. We appreciate their support of the Flint Generals."

The Generals officially open training camp on Monday, October 4, 2004 at 9:00 a.m. at Perani Arena. All training camp sessions are open to the public as morning practice and afternoon scrimmages will be the basic schedule throughout the first two days of camp.

Flint will host two U.H.L. exhibition contests against the Port Huron Beacons on Thursday, October 7, 2004 at 7:05 p.m. and Saturday, October 9, 2004 at 7:35 p.m. On Friday, October 8, 2004, the Generals will host the Jr. Generals at 7:35 p.m. Proceeds will benefit local youth hockey programs.

The regular season home opener is Friday, October 15, 2004 versus the Muskegon Fury at Perani Arena at 7:35 p.m. Tickets are on sale for any and all regular season home games at any TicketMaster location by calling (810) 744-0580. For more details, contact the Flint Generals at (810) 742-9422.
