Generals Get Back to Winning Ways

June 7, 2015 - Texas Collegiate League (TCL)
Victoria Generals News Release

The Victoria Generals come up with a 2-1 victory over the Acadiana Cane Cutters with outstanding pitching. Stuart Springer pitches a gem through six complete innings and Brett Burrington comes in for the final three as the Generals get back to their winning ways.

Springer was on from the start as he held the Cane Cutters scoreless through five innings, scattering just three hits, one walk and five strikeouts. Their only run of the game would come in the sixth as errors would again cost the Generals a shutout as the Cane Cutters would pick up a run in the inning.

Brett Burrington would come in and dominate the Cane Cutters as he would strike out the side in the seventh. In the eighth inning, Burrington would get a weak groundout for the first out and would send the next two hitters down with two more strikeouts. To wrap up the bottom of the ninth, Burrington would again dominate the Cane Cutters with another strikeout and a pair of groundouts to seal the deal as Springer gets the win and Burrington gets the save.
