LAST GAME: Jackson, Tenn. - The Jackson Generals, the Double-A affiliate of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks, got a brilliant effort from right-hander Riley Smith on Saturday, powering them to a 4-3 win over the Tennessee Smokies at The Ballpark at Jackson. The victory for Jackson (23-18) kept Tennessee (21-21) from taking the series, snapping a four-game win streak for the Smokies in front of 4,945 fans.

TODAY'S PITCHING MATCHUP: Generals right-hander Justin Donatella didn't have his best stuff last time he pitched, allowing five runs to Mobile on Tuesday without completing the fifth inning. Donatella's efficiency has taken a hit in his last two outings (including one with Triple-A Reno): he's thrown 185 pitches while working just 9 1/3 innings, averaging an untenable 19.8 pitches per inning. He'll need to be sharper against a Smokies lineup that doesn't strike out much - only one player (Connor Myers) has struck out more than 22% of the time this year. Tennessee starter Thomas Hatch is battling demons of his own currently, giving up 13 runs over his last 13 innings. He's allowed 17 earned runs to Jackson in 2 starts.

RECOGNIZE RILEY: If you still don't know the name Riley Smith, learn it. The Generals' staff ace is number one with a bullet in May, throwing 28 innings in four starts to lead all Double-A pitchers nationwide. He's given up one run in each outing, good enough for a 0.64 ERA in May. He's also induced five groundball double plays, posting a groundout-to-air-out ratio of 1.32 while holding batters to a .196 average.
