Generals Fall to the Battalion

Oshawa Generals News Release
The Generals wrapped up January hosting the North Bay Battalion at the General Motors Centre Friday night. This was the first time the Battalion had made their way down to Oshawa since New Years Day when the Generals handed them a 3-2 shootout loss.
An early boarding penalty for the Battalion got the boys right into the game. There were lots of scoring chances but North Bay goaltender Brendan O'Neill was up to the task. The Generals thought they had one near the middle-mark of the period, but it was waved off immediately due to an interference penalty, putting the Generals on the penalty kill. North Bay had their chances but Daniel Altshuller and the boys kept this game scoreless. It wasn't until the fourteen minute mark of the period when Michael Dal Colle flipped in his thirty second of the season the give the Generals a one nothing lead heading into the second.
North Bay then got one of their own early in the second when Brett McKenzie dished a pass out front for Jared Steege to slip past Daniel Altshuller, tying the game at one. The Generals were then awarded a lengthy four minute penalty after Sam Harding took a nasty looking stick to the face. Oshawa was clicking, making some beautiful passes but the puck never found its way to the back of the net during the man-advantage. The Battalion found themselves in more penalty trouble late in the second when Barclay Goodrow was sent off for roughing. Oshawa came close, but the buzzer sounded before they could bury the puck.
The Battalion wasted little time getting the go-ahead goal in the third, after the Generals were handed a too many men on the ice penalty. Ben Thomson got the Battalion marker just three minutes and seventeen seconds into the frame putting North Bay in the lead. Mathew Santos, Matt MacLeod and Brett McKenzie then added to the scoresheet extending the Battalion's lead to 5-1 through the middle mark of the third putting the game out of reach for the Generals.
Oshawa will be back and home ice this Sunday when the Mississauga Steelheads visit for a 2:05PM puck drop.
