
Generals Drop 4-1 Decision to Bombers

Victoria Generals News Release
The Victoria Generals dropped the first game of a two-game series to the Brazos Valley Bombers on Thursday night by a final score of 4-1. The Generals struggled to find hits against Bombers starting pitcher Zac Curtis who tossing seven innings, allowing just one run on three hits with 10 strikeouts to earn the win.
The Generals first and only run of the game came in the bottom of the first inning. Brandon Hannon walked, advanced to second on a Jacob Hubert single, stole third, and came into score on a David Paiz, Jr. RBI single.
The Bombers tied the game up in the fourth inning on an error by Generals shortstop Drew Featherston and took the lead on a two-run home run by Patrick McLendon in the fifth. The Bombers made it 4-1 on an RBI single by Graham McIntyre in the sixth.
Lucas Humpal took the loss for the Generals. Humpal allowed four runs, three earned, on six hits in six innings with two strikeouts.
Kyle Keller tossed two scoreless innings with two strikeouts and Juan Cortina allowed just one hit and no runs in his one inning of work.
Paiz, Jacob Hubert, and Aaron Morgan each recorded one of the Generals three hits on the night.
With the loss, the Generals fall to 13-6 and the Bombers improve to 16-3. The two teams will meet again on Friday night for game two of the series at 7:05pm at Riverside Stadium in Victoria.
Friday night is the fourth annual Hot Diggity Dog Night presented by the Dorothy H. O'Connor Pet Adoption Center. Gates open at 5:00 for registration for the weenie dog races. Preliminary races begin at 6:00 and game time is 7:05pm.
