Strykers Sweep Bombers in Wild Game

The Woodlands Strykers Swept the Brazos Valley Bombers for their second win in a row. The Strykers had a great team effort in the come from behind 11-10 victory. The team will look to carry this momentum on the road as they travel to Dallas and Kilgore for games against the Marshals and Pump Jacks.

The Strykers got one run in the first inning, four in the third, one in the seventh and five in the eighth. The Strykers had a big night from second baseman Kevin Santana who had a three run homerun in the eighth inning that helped the Strykers retake the lead. Dirk Masters also hit a two run homerun earlier in the game. The team got great hitting from all around. Conner Fikes continued swinging a good bat and collected a couple of hits and one RBI. Landon Merka added three hits and two RBIs. Ricky Sanchez also had two hits. Dalton Perry had a great night at the plate, collecting three hits. The offense will look to continue hitting the ball well in upcoming games.

Alexis Garza started on the mound for the Strykers. The McAllen native threw four innings, giving up three earned runs and struck out four batters. Chris Thompson came in for 1.2 innings allowed a couple of runs and struck out one batter. Former College Park player Greg Jakusik pitched 1.1 innings and struck out two batters. Another former College Park player, Austen Gunnels, pitched the eighth inning giving up three runs and striking out one batter. Gandy Stubblefield came in and worked a perfect ninth inning to pick up his fourth save of the season. Gunnels earned the win, his second of the season.

The team travels to Dallas tomorrow for two games against the Texas Marshals lasting from Thursday through Friday. The team will then travel east to Kilgore for games Saturday and Sunday.
