Flint Generals News Release

BLOOMINGTON, ILL - The Flint Generals used a solid second period scoring three times and went on to a 4-1 win over the Bloomington Prairie Thunder on Friday night at US Cellular Coliseum.

It was the Generals second win on the road and fourth overall on the season bringing them one game back of the .500 mark. This was the first of a two game road trip for the club that will conclude tomorrow night in Muskegon against the Lumberjacks at 7 pm.

Jordan Alford was outstanding in goal for the Generals stopping 31 of 32 shots including some big saves in the third period when the Prairiethunder had several power play opportunities.

It was a solid first period by both teams defensively. The Generals dictated play in the early moments and had chances but couldn't beat goaltender Ryan Ludzik. John DiPace and Greg Bullock both had terrific chances in front but denied by the young goaltender.

There was a fight involving former Flint General Leo Thomas and young rookie Justin Styffe that was very close as both players threw good punches.

The Generals had a solid second period and rewarded for their hard work when Justin Styffe scored his first as a professional on a scramble inside the Bloomington zone. Derrick Ryan and Kris Mallette earned assists on the goal. Then it was power play time and the Generals capitalized on consecutive attempts with their 11th and 12th via the man advantage.

First it was Greg Bullock with a rocket from Steve Rymsha and Kyle Deck. It would be Deck with the second goal on the power play from John DiPace and Greg Bullock.

Don Parsons scored for the Prairiethunder in the third period to make it interesting at 3-1, but John DiPace sealed the deal with a goal in the final 1:14. The Generals had to kill off a 5 on 3 midway through the period but specialty teams again were solid not letting Bloomington get very much going.

The Generals return to home ice on Thursday, Nov. 13 when they host the Fort WayneKomets at 7 pm at Perani Arena and Event Center. Don't miss the 4 for $44 Thursday family promotion. Fans can get 4 end zone tickets, 4 hotdogs and 4 44-ounce Coca-Cola Products for just $44.
