Generals Acquire Jacob Winterton from the Firebirds in Exchange for a Draft Selection

Oshawa, ON- The Oshawa Generals announced today they have acquired forward Jacob Winterton from the Flint Firebirds in exchange for a draft selection.

Generals receive:

- Forward Jacob Winterton

Generals trade:

- Eighth Round Selection in 2023

Winterton is coming off his first season in the Ontario Hockey League where he appeared in 67 games for the Firebirds recording 11 goals and ten assists for 21 points. The 5'11, 164 pound, right shot forward is a Durham region local, who played his minor hockey for the Ajax/Pickering Raiders.

"Adding Jacob to our roster improves our list of players from the 2001 birth class. He is coming into his own and we are excited to see how he progresses as a player," said Vice President and General Manager Roger Hunt on the acquisition. "He now gets an opportunity to play close to home and any time you get a chance to play for your hometown team, it's always an exciting time. I know Jacob will be just as excited as we are."

Winterton will attend Generals training camp at the end of August ahead of pre-season action. He will wear #21 with the team.
