
Gems fall to Komets

The Dayton Gems took on the Fort Wayne Komets for the second night in a row. Tonight's battle took place on the Gems home ice of Hara Arena. The Komets came on strong during the opening period scoring their 1st goal with 8:14 played; then again only 7 minutes and 16 seconds later. Before the 1st period would end they would score again and lead 3 - 0. The Gems' Corey Couturier would find the net with less than 5 minutes left in the 2nd, assisted by Tim Hartung and Russ Smith. Then with only seconds left in the period Dayton's Matt Szypura would score with the aid of Nathan Oke. In the 3rd Fort Wayne would score on a power play in the first 6 minutes of the period and less than a minute later would score again. The evening would end with the Komets 5 - Gems 2.
As the inaugural season draws to a close there are still Gems games and events to attend. The team is already looking forward to next season. On April 16th join the Gems as they play the final game of their inaugural season. It will be Fan Appreciation night at Hara Arena. The team will play the Muskegon Lumberjacks and the first 1000 fans will receive the final set of trading cards. Puck drops at 7:30pm. It's Frothy Friday so it's a night with bargain $2 drafts.
