Quad City Mallards News Release

MOLINE, Ill. - Jerad Kauffman made 43 saves and the host Quad City Mallards, proud International Hockey League (IHL) affiliate of the Philadelphia Flyers, jumped out to a 4-0 lead and never looked back on the way to a 4-1 win over the Bloomington PrairieThunder Saturday night.

Kaufmann made some of his most important stops early on, keeping the game scoreless as Bloomington outshot the Mallards 13-4 in the opening stages of the contest.

It would be the Mallards who bounced back to grab the opening goal when Addison DeBoer wristed the puck home from the right wing circle at 11:39 of the first period. At 13:54 the Mallards were on the power play when Patrick Levesque swooped into the goalmouth to double the Quad City lead.

The Mallards widened the gap to 4-0 by scoring twice in 47 seconds in the second period. Shane Lovdahl scored the third Quad City goal from the left point at 6:11 of the second and Brandon Marino, who, along with Lovdahl, would finish the night with a goal and an assist, buried a rebound later on the same shift.

The PrairieThunder got on the scoreboard for the first and, as it would prove, only time when Zach Pearson knocked the puck in out of a goalmouth scramble with just over a minute left in the second period.

The Mallards are next in action tomorrow in Fort Wayne against the Komets. The Mallards will play their final regular season home game next Friday, April 16, at 7:05 p.m. against the Fort Wayne Komets.
