Dayton Gems News Release

Tonight at Hara Arena, the Dayton Gems took on the Muskegon Lumberjacks. In the first period (and throughout the rest of the game), both teams fought ferociously, battling it out for control of the puck. However, it was Muskegon that scored the night's first goal nine minutes into the game. The Gems held off Muskegon for the rest of the period.

Nearly eight minutes into the second period, the Gems' Mike Vaskivuo scored the team a goal, tying things up. However, both teams fought hard to gain the upper hand on the ice tonight.

The majority of the third period was spent with both teams furiously engaged in combat, with neither team scoring a goal. Finally Muskegon scored two goals almost consecutively against the Gems in the last four minutes of the game. Unable to catch up, the Gems lost tonight 1-3.
