KLAMATH FALLS, OR - The Klamath Falls Gems fell from the undefeated ranks with a 6-5 loss to the Bend Elks tonight at Kiger Stadium. The Elks hopped out front in the first inning 4-0 and kept the lead to win final game of the series. Cody Edwards started on the mound for the Gems' and had a rough outing only lasting 1/3 of the first inning and while walking two and hitting one batter.
The Gems rallied in the 4th inning to get two runs. Rich Sanguinetti started the inning off with an infield bunt, and Turner Gill followed with a walk. Graham Saiko hit a double, scoring Sanguinetti and Gill. The Gems' tried again in the 9th, as they were down three. Bo Cornish hit a pinch a single and moved to third on a two base error, but it was not enough for the Gems to sweep the series.
In the end, the Gems had 5 errors in the game, contributing heavily to the loss. The final game of the series took 2 hours and 27 minutes and had 764 in attendance.
